Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between coaching and hypnosis?
Coaching works at the conscious level. It is right for issues you can think through, reflect on, and decide: gaining clarity on a situation, setting priorities, and finding a next step. The mind is the right place for that.
Hypnosis works at the subconscious level. It is right for issues where thinking no longer helps: Patterns, reactions, and emotional blocks that remain unchanged despite a genuine desire for change. You want it to stop. It doesn’t stop. Thinking alone won’t get you there. That is where hypnosis works.
The two approaches are not mutually exclusive. Sometimes both are needed. The initial call clarifies what applies to your situation.
What is coaching and how does a session work?
Coaching is structured work on a specific issue. Professional, personal, or emotional. We gain clarity, identify patterns, and find the next step. You do not get advice. You find your own answers. I make sure we get there.
A session lasts 60 minutes. How many sessions are needed depends on the issue. Some things resolve in two or three appointments. Others take more. I do not run open-ended processes.
What does coaching help with specifically?
Coaching helps when you:
-
are facing an important decision and cannot move forward
-
know what you want but not how to get there
-
are stuck in a pattern you can clearly see but cannot leave
-
want to clarify your values and priorities
-
are navigating a transition and need orientation
If the issue sits deeper than the mind can reach, hypnosis is the better approach. The initial call clarifies that.
What is hypnosis and how does a session work?
Hypnosis uses a natural state of the brain: focused attention with reduced external distraction. In this state, the subconscious is directly accessible. Not bypassed. Accessible.
I work with the OMNI method. OMNI is cause-oriented: we are not looking for symptom management, but for the origin of the pattern. In a session, we go back to the moment when the pattern was first created and resolve it there.
The first session lasts two to three hours. We clarify the issue thoroughly before starting the hypnosis. Follow-up sessions typically last one hour. One session is often enough for a clearly defined issue. Most things resolve within three.
What does hypnosis help with?
Hypnosis is not a general wellness tool. It works for issues with a specific origin or pattern that have persisted despite understanding or other approaches:
-
Fears and phobias that are fully understood and remain intact regardless
-
Panic attacks, performance anxiety, specific triggers with a clearly identifiable onset
-
Habit patterns: smoking, eating patterns, compulsive behaviors
-
Sleep problems without a clear medical cause
-
Emotional reactions that are consistently disproportionate to what is actually happening
-
Psychosomatic patterns where the connection is known but the cycle has not been broken through other treatments
-
Self-sabotage and performance blocks with a recognizable pattern
If you are not sure whether your issue fits: write to me. I will tell you directly whether it does.
Who is hypnosis not suitable for?
Hypnosis is not clinical therapy. It is not the right tool for complex psychiatric diagnoses, active psychosis, or conditions that require clinical treatment. When I see that, I say so directly and name what would actually help.
Hypnosis also only works with genuine willingness. If a part of you has already decided that nothing will change anyway, that part is usually right. The subconscious works with what it is given.
Is hypnosis dangerous or manipulative?
No. Hypnosis is a natural state of consciousness. You do not lose control. You do not do anything against your will. You remain fully conscious throughout the session and can speak or ask questions at any time.
No one can be hypnotized against their will. Hypnosis is always a conscious act of allowing. I work transparently and only with your consent.
Can I stop a hypnosis session in the middle?
Yes. At any point. You are conscious throughout the session and retain full control. If something feels uncomfortable, you say so, and we stop or adjust.
What happens if something difficult comes up during hypnosis?
That can happen, and it is not a problem. The session is guided. If something difficult comes up, we work with it. That is often exactly the point where something resolves. You will not be left alone with it.
What if I cannot be hypnotized?
Almost everyone can be guided into hypnosis. What varies is the depth of the state, not the possibility itself. The prerequisite is willingness, not a special ability.
People who wonder whether they can be hypnotized usually can. People who are convinced they cannot make it harder for themselves. We address that in the initial call too.
Where do sessions take place?
My practice is in Uetikon am See.
Coaching takes place either in person or online. Hypnosis takes place in person only. Online does not work for hypnosis.
